DC and COs/OICs may grant prenatal medical convalescent leave without the Commandant’s approval for prenatal periods up to a cumulative total of 6 weeks. PCL is an additional 6 weeks.
How long is secondary leave granted for?
it has doubled from 10 days to 21 days. Dual military couples can designate a primary and secondary to each get leave.
How long before and after can you use Maternity uniforms? what if the member can’t afford them?
Maternity uniforms may be worn during pregnancy and up to 60 days after returning from maternity leave.
If the member can’t afford them, they can be purchased from Luck Bag.
What is the rule for one time maternity uniform purchase?
Enlisted Supplementary Clothing Allowance Enlisted members only are authorized a onetime allowance to purchase maternity uniforms. The FY2017 rate is $286.09.
How long is a member exempted from weight standards?
Members who are pregnant for 20 weeks or longer are exempt from weight and body fat standards for a twelve month period upon completion of pregnancy (delivery, miscarriages, etc.).
How can child care subsidy help after pregnancy financially?
The Coast Guard Child Care Subsidy Benefit Program was created to assist Coast Guard members provide child care for their children. Families may qualify for subsidy benefits in accordance with the benefits table, which is based upon their total family income. To determine if you are eligible to receive benefits you must submit an application with the required documents to the Department of Agriculture Child Care Subsidy for Federal Employees program for review.
What is the Tuition assistance per year? When do you have to have it to the OIC before school starts?
The Coast Guard will fund tuition cost not to exceed $250.00 per semester hour,
The annual cap for reimbursement of TA is $2250.00 (three courses) to ensure funding remains available throughout FY19.

What are some female changes?
- female hair claw shall be wingless; not to exceed 3 inches in length and 1 inch in width. The hair claw
shall be black, navy blue, brown. - Hair bun size limitation from 2 in to 3 in The bun may touch the collar, but may not fall below the bottom edge of the shirt collar or jacket collar, with exception to the foul weather parka.

What changes to the ENLISTED SERVICE DRESS BLUE COAT (SDB)?
CG Shield on the enlisted SDB coat sleeve is changed from its current placement, “midway between the elbow and cuff” to the new
authorized placement, “bottom of the shield being located 4 inches up from the sleeve cuff”, to allow for greater uniformity. Current SDB coats with attached shields are authorized until no longer serviceable, or until October 1, 2025, or as otherwise directed by higher authority.
