Unie two Flashcards
When two organisms of the same or different species attempt to use an ecological resource in the same place at the same time.
Competition
The rule says that no two species can occupy exactly the same niche in the same habitat at exactly the same time.
Competitive exclusion principle
the general place where an organism lives.
Habitat
The ability to survive and reproduce under a range of environmental conditions.
Tolerance
An organism that plays a key(important) role in the environment.
Keystone species
Ecologically involves both the place where an organism lives and the roles that an organism has in its habitat.
Niche
Any relationship in which two species live closely together
Symbiosis
Both species benefit
Mutalism
One species benefits and the other is neither helped nor harmed.
Commensalism
One organism benefits and the other is harmed.
The organism being harmed.
The organism that is being benefited.
Host
parasite
The largest amount of organisms a population can hold before animals run out of resources.
Carrying capacity
Things like food, water, space and shelter are needed for animals to live. If they don’t have these things, their population may be stopped from growing.
Limiting factors
Has a carrying capacity and limiting factors.
Logistic growth graph (s shape)
Has NO carrying capacity and NO limiting factors.
Exponential growth graph (js goes up, j)
When a population has a large decrease in number.
Population crash graph
