Unicellular Organisms And Multicellular Organisms Flashcards
What is bacteria?
Bacteria are primitive and plentiful organisms. Some even make there own food like plants. Others are parasites. Bacteria are different from animal and plant cells because the have to nucleus, no mitochondria and no ribosomes.
What are Protista?
Protist live anywhere there is water. Unlike bacteria protist have a nucleus and contain organelles.
What are unicellular organisms?
Aka microorganism or microbes, unicellular organisms have one cell.
Four types of Protists?
Plant like:
•Diatom; found in fresh and salt water. Contain chlorophyll.
•Euglena; plant and animal like. If there is sunlight it makes its own food. Without sun light it feeds on other cells.
Animal like:
•Amoeba; uses the same movement as white blood cells. Crawls and feeds on other cells.
•Paramecium; Move and eats other cells like Amoeba.
What is a multicellular organism?
An organism with many cells
Why do cells divide?
Cells can grow but there’s a limit. When cells get too big they divide.
