Q

Unique local

A

Starts with fc00::/7 (fc00 - fdff)

  • Because the only legitimate value for the L flag is 1, the only valid ULA addresses today are in the fd00::/8 prefix
  • non routable globally
  • ULA addresses are for devices that never need access to the Internet and never need to be accessible from the Internet.
  • no NAT

  • only needs to be unique within a link
  • Is always assigned (dynamically or manually)
  • Routers do not forward packets with a link-local address
  • only one link-local address per interface
  • %11 and %en1 following the IPv6 link-local addresses are known as zone identifiers, and they are used to identify the interface on the device.

10 bit : prefix fe80
