What does the L side of the heart do?
L of heart receives the oxygenated blood from the lungs and pumps it, via the arterial system throughout the body. Double pump.
Myocardial infarction (MI)
(Heart attack)
Occurs due to lack of blood flow (ischemia) through the coronary Artie’s to the heart muscle, the myocardial muscle in the area dies.
Ischemia
Lack of blood flow
Stroke volume
(Amount of blood pumped w/each beat, or systole)
Rhythmic squeezing action of the heart pumps blood continuously flowing throw the arteries to all the ….? Of the body
Cardiac output
Usually measured in liters(or millimeters) of blood pumping per minutes.
Venous system
As blood leaves the capillaries, it enters the venous system which returns blood back to the hearts
Valsalva maneuver
Occurs when a person holds his or her breath during strenuous activity glottis is closed against pressure, causes increase in thoracic pressure loading to an interruption.
Reducing blood flow to the coronary Artie’s.
Minute ventilation
.
Residual lung volume
