Identify and describe the five phases of an undercover operation.
Planning - review background info and determine objective
Initiation - continue to develop info about violator, brief UC
Operational - cover team conducts surveillance to protect UC
Termination - terminate early if discovery, negative results, imminent danger. Successful UC op terminates when the established objectives have been met
Evaluation - case agent should conduct post-op briefing. Prepare to testify.
Identify the types and the primary objective of an undercover operation.
Impromptu - pose as tourist
Short-term - the undercover ops conducted during CCI
Long-term - weeks/months
Penetration - infiltrate criminals
Obtain information. Identify violators, locate contraband, locate violation sites
Identify the qualities of an effective undercover agent and some of the problems that maybe encountered.
Willingness to accept role. Self confidence. Calm, affable, and enduring personality
