Under Truck Flashcards
learn all component's under the hood of truck.
Exhaust
Check back under the truck as far as I can see. All mounting brackets and clamp are in place. Nuts and Bolts are tight noting touching any air, electrical, or fuel line No leaks
Coolant Level
Should be full
Coolant Lines
Not Rubbing on Anything All Clamps Tight The lines are not cut, no leaks
Water Pump
Belt Driven All Bolts in place and tight No leaks
Overall View of the engine
No fuel, oil, coolant or power steering leaks
Oil Level
should be full
Alternator
Alternator is belt driven All nuts and bolts in place and tight Electrical wires connections clean and tight No bare wires
Electrical Wiring
All connections clean and tight No bare wires showing
Air Compressor
Gear Driven
Main Air Line
As far back as I can see the connections are tight Not cut, cracked, frayed not rubbing on anything No leaks
Frame
Not broken Has no welds All nuts and bolts in place and tight
Spring Hanger
Not Broken, has not been welded All nut & Bolts and tight
Springs
None missing or broken, They are properly Aligned
U-Bolts
Not broken, nut in place and tight, no indication of movement
Shock
Bolts are tight and top and bottom Bushings good so it can not move Not bent or broken Doesn’t leak
Shackle
Not broken, has not been welded All bolts are tight & in place
Check the connections on steering system
Grab steering column and twist: all parts including steering tires should wiggle
Steering Column or shaft
Not bent or broken, not too much movement at u- join
Power steering Reservoir
full of fluid
Power steering Pump
Gear driven All nut and bolts in place and tight no leaks
Power steering Lines
Connections are tight , not cut or rubbing on anything no leaks
Pitman Arm
secure to gear box not bent or broken
Drag link
All Connections made with a crown nut & kotter key, not bent or broken
upper & lower steering Arms
not bent or broken
Tie Rod
not bent or broken, noting twisted around it
Air lines that carries Air to brake chamber
Not cut, frayed, or rubbing anything connections tight on both ends no leaks
Brake Chamber
All nuts & in place and tight there are no holes no leaks
Push Rods
not bent or broken, attached to slack adjuster with a pin & kotter key
Slack Adjuster
Not bent or broken To check adjustment, pull on it and if it moves more than about and inch it needs to be adjusted
Brake shoes
Not broken or missing parts not soaked with oil or grease
Tires Inside sidewall
No cuts, bulges & no tread separation
Top of Tires
No un even wear at least 4/32 inch tread depth
Outside sidewall
No cuts, scrapes , bulges, or tread separation
Rims
Not cracked, bent, or welded on, bead not coming apart
Lug Nuts
All 10 in place and tight, no rust streaks coming from them that could indicate looseness
Valve Stem
Has a Cap, No leaks, properly inflated
Hub oiler
Full of oil, dose not leak
Brake drum
not broken, not soaked in grease
