African culture has a large impact on Cuba due to the large amount of African slaves on the island in the past. The people who live in Cuba today are both of African decent and Spanish decent. One specific practice that comes from African culture is the Yoruba religion which has been combined with Catholicism to make the most popular religion in Cuba called La Santeria. The United States has also been greatly impacted by African culture for similar reasons. One example is influences in foods, particularly seen in southern states.
