Example of a successful ICJ case

A

Chad v Libya 1994, the ongoing conflict over a land dispute between the regions was taken to the ICJ. The ruling resulted in Chad’s favour and was made binding when Libya accepted the decision, withdrawing troops and agreeing to sign a peace treaty which still holds today

A

USA v The Republic of Nicaragua 1984, Nicaragua accused the US of supplying it’s internal rebellion forces with recourses, the court ruled in favour of Nicaragua however the US refused to cooperate in the decision
