A

What was the Curragh Mutiny?

A

The government wanted to reinforce army depots in Ulster where 23,000 men were in the UVF. However many of the troops sent were Irish and refused to obey orders and resigned from the army.

A

The UVF broke the ban on importing arms and obtained 35,000 rifles and 5 million rounds of ammunition from Germany

What was the Howth gun-running incident

A

The Howth gun running delivered 900 Mauser rifles to Howth harbour in Ireland on 26 July 1914, in full daylight. The unloading of guns was from a private yacht and was less successful than the previous one

A

An amendment to Home Rule each county of Ulster could decide separately for or against exclusion from Britain and Home Rule for 6 years. If they did want exclusion they would be ruled under Wesminster

A

All party leaders were invited to a conference at Buckingham Palace to discuss exclusion. However overall it was a failure.
