Uncodified - UK
In the UK, the constitution is derived from several sources such as statue law, common law, conventions, and works of authority. Several freedoms are derived from specific pieces of legislation, for example the Human Rights Act 1998. This means. there are different sources of the constitution which protect the rights and freedoms of the people.
Codified - US
The US Constitution is limited to a single document that is based on ideas such as limited government, freedom, and rights. Several key rights are enshrined in the US Constitution. For example, freedom of speech and religion is included in the first amendment.
Uncodified VS Codified
The uncodified nature of the UK constitution allows for changes to occur over time, but some would argue that the rights of UK citizens are not protected as well as US citizens. However, the strict codification of the US constitution does leave the people of the USA with a constitution which some would say is outdated and unfit for modern democracy in comparison to its UK counterpart.
