UE Osteology Flashcards
Clavicle articulates with
Manubrium of sternum and acromion of scapula
Greenstick fracture
clavicle one of most fractured bones, incomplete fractures (often in ninos) called greenstick
Small depression on inferior surface of clavicle on sternal end
impression for costoclavicular lig- attachment to 1st rib
Impressions on Acromial end of clavicle (2)
Conoid tubercle- conoid lig (medial)
Trapezoid line- trapezoid lig (more lateral)
scapular borders
superior-medial-lateral
scapular angles
superior, inferior, lateral
2 common fracture points of humerus
Surgical neck and greater tubercle (avulsion due to insertion if supraspinatus, infraspinatus, T.Minor all insert here)
What muscles attach to lesser humeral tubercle
(its more anterior) subscapularis attaches
What muscles attach to Intertubercular groove
Biceps long head travels through; pec. major, t. major and Lat dorsi attach
Grooves on humeral shaft
Deltoid tuberosity & radial N groove (this is made my radial nerve and the deep brachial aa)
Where is groove for ulnar nerve
on medial epicondyle; “hit funny bone” = hit this nerve
A common avulsion fracture of elbow
Medial humeral epicondyle
humeral condyle consists of…
Capitulum (radial head) and trochlea (trochlear notch of ulna)
2 anterior depressions on distal humerus
Radial fossa lateral; coronoid fossa medial
Distal Humeral Posterior depression
Olecranon fossa (olecranon)
Fracture of Olecranon
“fractured elbow” common due to force of triceps, considered an avulsion fracture
Ulnar tuberosity
anterior, distal to coronoid process; brachialis attaches
Supinator crest
lateral aspect distal to radial notch on ulna; supinator attaches
Radial tuberosity
separates proximal and body; biceps attaches
Ulnar notch of radius
on distal radius, articulates with ulnar head
Carpal tunnel contents
tendons of: flex.digitorum profundus and superficialis, flex.carpi radialis and median Nerve
