- extremities for size, deformity, symmetry, position
- muscles for hypertrophy/atrophy

A
- palpate (clavicle, AC joint, sub-acromial bursa, coracoid process, deltoid muscle insertion)
- check shoulder ROM (flexion, extension, abduction, adduction, internal rotation, external rotation)
- Neer’s impingement test
- supraspinatus strength test
- infraspinatus strength test
- forearm supination

Elbow
A
- palpate (medial and lateral epicondyles, radial head, olecranon process, olecranon bursa)
- check elbow ROM (flexion, extension, pronation, supination)
- Tinsel’s Test (tap funny bone)
- 2 provocative tests for lateral epicdonylitis (forced wrist extension, grip test, or pushing on middle fingers w/ arms outstretched and palms down and fingers abducted)

Hand
A
- palpate (radial and ulnar styloid process, thumb abductor tendons, anatomical snuff box)
- check wrist/hand ROM (wrist flexion/extension, radial/ulnar deviation, MCP flexion/extension, PIP/DIP flexion/extension, jazz hands, thumb opposition, flexion/extension, adduction/abduction, form a fist)
- Three signs for carpal tunnel (Tinel’s sign of median nerve percussion, phalen’s test of pressing flexed wrists together, palpate thenar muscle for atrophy)
