SOCIAL CONTRACT THEORY
SOCIAL CONTRACT THEORY IS ALSO CALLED
SOCIAL BOND THEORY
suggests that the strength and durability of an individual’s bonds or commitments
to conventional society inhibit social deviance.
SOCIAL CONTROL THEORY
“Delinquent acts result when an individual’s bond to society is weak or broken”
MAIN PREMISE OF SOCIAL KINEME THEORY
Bonds established in close relationships with conventional others will act as avoidance of crime.

Desire to achieve conventional goals will reduce delinquency as it will make achieving those goals more difficult.

Represents the time dimension of commitment. If not involved in conventional activities, youth become free to
deviate. Difficult to measure aside from a commitment.
INVOLVEMENT in conventional activities
It refers to the idea that a person has the innate right to be valued, respected, and treated well.

These are legal, social, and ethical principles that consider the human person as deserving of liberties and
protections by virtue of his or her human dignity
HUMAN RIGHTS
CHARACTERISTICS OF HUMAN RIGHTS
UNIVERSAL, FUNDAMENTAL, INDIVISIBLE, ABSOLUTE
as they belong to all human beings regardless of race, religion, gender, and other characteristics
UNIVERSAL
Since they cannot be taken away from any human being.
FUNDAMENTAL
as various rights are interrelated and given equal importance.
INDIVISIBLE
