Q

what is migration?

A

newly formed neurons more outwards to their destined location. the role a particular neuron might have is determined by where it is located at its time of formation.

Q

what is circuit formation?

A

circuit formation occurs when the axons of new neurons grow out to target cells and form synapses with them.

eg). axon of motor neurons grow to the spinal cord where the neurons form synapses with other neurons.

Q

what is circuit pruning?

A

elimination of excess neurons and synapses that are not being used and have not established a connection with target cells.

Q

what is myelination?

A

axon of the neurons become covered in myelin (white fatty substance that increases rate of electrical activity)

Q

what is adaptive plasticity?
