  • International aid organisations and charities responded quickly by providing, food and water.
  • Philippines red cross pre-positioned emergency supplies before the Typhoon struck as they supplied over 1.1 million with clean water to limit the outbreak of disease.

Canada and USA sent military aircrafts to help with search and rescue.

1,200 evacuation centres set up to help the homeless.

Long term responses:

A

$475 million sent in Aid.

  • Environmental organisations worked with locals to restore mangrove forests which were destroyed as they are important to fishing and wildlife.

Aid organisations and charities such as Oxfam supported the replacement of fishing boats.

Rebuilding infrastructure.

UN set up a ‘cash for work programme’, they paid villagers to clear up debris, help stop the spread of disease and provided income.
