Informal Worship

A
  • A type of non-liturgical worship, sometimes ‘spontaneous’ or ‘charistmatic’ in nature
  • Modern, emphasize the ability to worship anywhere where Christians gather
  • “Where two or more are gathered in my name, I am there with them”
  • E..g Quaker worship - mainly silent, people speak when they feel God’s spirit moving them to offer thoughts, prayers or readings
  • Community / house churches → meet to eat together and share their faith to recreate what they believe to be a worship of the early church
  • Pentecostal Church: “charismatic” (led by the spirit) → dancing, clapping, calling out, speaking in tongues?, feel it is easier to experience God’s Holy Spirit, spontaneous action
