Simple present tense
Unchanging/ repeated action
Examples: teach, rises, lives
Progressive present tense
Ongoing action happening in the present. -am,is,are…(word)-ing
Example: is studying, are working, am teaching
Perfect present tense
Happened/began in the past
Example: had voted, has written
Present perfect progressive
Action began in the past, continues in the present. Has/have been …ing
Past progressive tense
An ongoing past action that took place before another past action- has been/have been…ing
Simple past tense
Happened in the past- examples: drove, built, won
Past progressive
Past action whole something else was occurring. Was/were…ing
Past perfect
A past action that occurred before some other past action.
Examples: had driven, had lived, had ended
Future simple
An action that will occur in the future
Examples: will run, will preform, I am going to
Future progressive
An ongoing action that will take place in the future
Example: will be presenting, will be studying
Future perfect
A future action that will occur before some other future action.
Examples: will have, will have written, will have saved
Future perfect progressive
Ongoing future action that will occur before some future action (will have been…ing)
Examples: will have been studying
