Types of transmissions Flashcards
What is direct transmission?
Direct Transmission: This occurs when there is direct physical contact between an infected individual and a susceptible person.
What is indirect transmission?
Indirect Transmission: This type of transmission occurs when there is no direct human-to-human contact, but is spread through contaminated objects
What is airborne transmission?
Airborne Transmission: When infected individuals cough, sneeze, or talk, they release infectious particles into the air
What is vector-borne transmission?
Vector-Borne Transmission: Vectors such as mosquitoes, ticks, fleas, can transmit infectious agents from one host to another.
What is vehicle-borne transmission?
Vehicle-Borne Transmission: This mode of transmission occurs when infectious agents are transmitted through contaminated vehicles such as water, food, blood, or other substances. This can happen through the consumption of contaminated food or water, blood transfusions, or other contaminated materials.
What is droplet transmission?
Its like airborne but with larger particles that come from sneezing, coughing, etc.
What is vertical transmission?
Vertical Transmission: when infectious agents are passed from a pregnant woman to her fetus or from a mother to her infant
What are the different types of transmissions?
Direct, Indirect, Airborne, Vector-borne, Vehicle-borne, Vertical, Droplet
