Types of Sampling Flashcards
specific set of persons whom you believe to have characteristic of target population
ex. LGBTQIA, MALE 50+
Quota Sampling
you expect to participate
Voluntary Sampling
you choose people whom you are sure could respond to the objectives of your study, like selecting those with rich experience or interest in your study.
example: determine their perspective or opinion about musical instrument -sample: musicians
Purposive or Judgmental Sampling
the willingness of a person as your subject to interact with you counts a lot in this non-probability sampling
Availability Sampling
Similar to snow expanding widely rolling rapidly this sampling method does not get a specific set of sample
ex. Drug users, prostitutes, call center agents, street children
Snowball Sampling
a method of selecting units from a population using a subjective (i.e. non-random) method
Non Probability Sampling (Qualitative)
-simple, random
-stratified random
-cluster sampling
-systematic sampling
-multistage sampling
Probability Sampling (Quantitative)
