Q

Give a + (Peterson)

A

Peterson demonstrated semantic memories were recalled from the left prefrontal cortex, while episodic memories were from the right prefrontal cortex. This supports the idea of having different types of LTM, but shows they have different neurological bias because they’re recalled from different parts of the brain

Q

Give a + (DEC and PRO)

A

There’s a distinction between declarative and procedural has come from patients with amnesia. Amnesic patients have great difficulty retaining episodic and semantic information following the onset of amnesia

Q

Give a + (HM and Clive)

A

HM and Clive Wearing show how 1 type of LTM is impaired. For example, Clive was still Able to skilfully play the piano and understand music (Procedural and Semantic), but couldn’t remember his wife visiting 5 minutes before. Giving strong support to the idea different areas of the brain are involved in different types of LTM and confirms the classification of the different types
