Types of Lipids Flashcards
What is the most common Lipids (Fats)?
Triglycerides
What are triglyceride’s structure like?
-Its structure is like 1 Glycerol Molecule Chemically Bonded to 3 fatty acid Chains
What are the 2 states lipids can be in?
-Fats (Solid at R.T.P)
-Oils (Liquids at R.T.P)
Whats the difference between phospholipids and triglycride fats?
-While the fatty acids are three and are connected to one glycerol in triglycerides
-In Phospholipids there is 2 fatty acids connected to one glycerol and above that glycerol is small phosphate ball
Whats the difference between saturated and non-saturated fats?
-Saturated fats have atleast 1 double bond within itself
-Non-saturated dont have a double bond
Give me an example of saturated and non-saturated fats products
-Saturated:Butter
-Non-Saturated:Olive Oil
What is the bond between fats called?
-Glycocidic Bonding
