Types of levers Flashcards
What defines a lever of the first class?
The lever of the first class = fulcrum is in the middle.
What defines a lever of the second class?
The force is in the middle.
What defines a lever of the third class?
The effort is in the middle here.
What is force?
Force is where the shit’s taking place, the center of attention. ‘Nut’s about to get cracked!’ you’re looking at the force, the area around the nut. ‘Holy shit this man’s picking up a book!’ you’re looking at his hand, at the book, at the center of attention. Without it, there’s nothing to grab/be/happen on. IT’S WHERE THE FORCE IS APPLIED.
What’s the fulcrum?
The fulcrum is the thing that makes it turn turn or move move or happen happen. It’s your joint. It’s the silent ninja. Imagine scissors. It’d be the little knob before the cutting edges.
What’s effort?
Effort is where the real power and effort comes from. It’s where YOU or IT comes in play. It’s the part of the thing where the power originates. It’s your tricep. It’s the scissors’ handles, cause that’s where you press.
