What OS uses NTFS and what features does it support?
A
Windows OS is used by NTFS and it supports compression, encryption and journaling as well as permissions.

What OS supports FAT 32 file system? and what features does it support?
A
- FAT 32 is an older file system used by Windows OS.
- Doesn’t support compression, encryption, journaling or permissions.
- Commonly used within storage of USB drives and external HDD.

- Linux uses ext file system.
- Supports encryption and compression via external tools however comes with journaling and permissions.

Apple uses HFS and it doesn’t support encryption, journalling and compression. Only supports permissions.

What features does HFS+ have? What features does APFS have?
This is not in the CompTIA ITF+ exam objectives.
A
- HFS+ supports permissions, encryption, compression and journaling.
- APFS supports all of the features except journaling which has been replaced with crash technology and provides good performance in SSDs and doesn’t contain compression.
