Define Employment.
Employment exists when an individual is payed for work done.
Name 5 reason people work.
People work because it provides basic needs such as food, clothes and shelter, gain financial independance, save for retirement ,provide for their families and to obtain a higher standard of living.
Define full time employment.
Full time employment means having a set work week, usually with 8-hour days and 40-hour weeks.
List a few benefits of full time employment.
The ability to be paid more than part time workers, paid vacation, healthcare and other benefits and a fixed work schedule.
Define part time employment.
Part time employment means working no more than 21-34 hours per week.
List a few benefits of part time employment.
More free time, the oppurtunity to earn more income from multiple jobs, reduced stress and improved health and you can spend more time with family.
Define unemployment.
Unemployment is a circumstance where a person is looking for employment but is unable to find it.
What are some causes of Unemployment.
Lack of job oppurtunities, lack of skills available for jobs, increased automation and voluntaty unemployment.
List some Effects of Unemployment.
Leads to poverty and homelessness, reduces tax revenue for the government,
results in brain drain, leads to an increased crime
rate and generates conflict within the family.
What are some ways we can reduce unimployment?
Provide education and training opportunities, promote the development of small businesses, reduce taxes on businesses and promote labour intensive jobs like agriculture.
