What is conformity?
A
- Conformity occurs when a person adopts the attitudes, beliefs and behaviours of people in a particular group in response to real or imagined pressure

What is compliance?
A
- When individuals change their own opinions or behaviour to fit in with the group
- However privately they do not change their personal opinions or behaviours

What is identification?
A
- When individuals conform to a group they value
- The change in opinions or behaviours is both private and public but will not be maintained when the individual leaves the group

A
- When an individual genuinely adopts the beliefs and behaviours of a group
- Resulting in a lasting change that persists
