• Most superficial level of conformity.
• A person will conform publicly with the views / behaviours expressed by others in the group.
• However, they will continue to privately disagree.

Define Identification.

• When an individual adopts the views/ behaviours of the group both publicly and privately.
• The individual identifies with the group and feels a sense of group membership.

Define Internalisation.

Answer 4

• A conversation or true change of private views to match those of the group.
• Doesn’t require the presence of others to be continued.
• New attitudes and beliefs become a part of individuals priavte views.
• Long term/ permanent change.
