What are the 3 types of conformity?
A
Compliance, Identification and Internalisation.

Define Compliance.
A
- Most superficial level of conformity.
- A person will conform publicly with the views / behaviours expressed by others in the group.
- However, they will continue to privately disagree.

Define Identification.
A
- When an individual adopts the views/ behaviours of the group both publicly and privately.
- The individual identifies with the group and feels a sense of group membership.

Define Internalisation.
A
- A conversation or true change of private views to match those of the group.
- Doesn’t require the presence of others to be continued.
- New attitudes and beliefs become a part of individuals priavte views.
- Long term/ permanent change.
