Objective Claims
Statement about a factual matter
- can be proven true or false
- the truth of the statement does not depend on the speaker
Subjective Claims
An opinionated claim.
- The truth of the claim depends on the speaker
- Claim can only be false if the speaker is lying
Intersubjective claims
A claim widely held by a collective (group of people)
- can be subjective or objective
Ex: “murder is wrong”
Normative claims
A claim that tells us what is right or wrong NOT true or false
