Types of brainwaves and stages of sleep Flashcards
What is amplitude?
Amplitude is a measure of intensity
What is Frequency?
The frequency at the brainwave refers to the number of brain waves per second.
What are the different types of brainwaves?
There are beta, alpha, theta and delta waves
What are beta waves?
Beta ways are characteristic of normal waking consciousness and REM sleep. Typically these have low amplitude and high-frequency
What are alpha waves?
Characteristics of a deeply relaxed state. High frequency and slightly larger amplitude than beta
What are theta waves?
Characteristics of the early stages of sleep. Medium frequency and combined of high and low amplitude
What are delta waves?
Characteristics of deep sleep. Lowest frequency and highest amplitude.
