Types Of Alarms Flashcards
Catastrophic Failure
Occurs when the entire system or a major portion of the system is inoperative (ie failure of the annunciation and display subsystems
Major malfunction
An intruder can penetrate an alarmed area boundary without crossing a line of detection. A facility or individual resource IDS component fails.
Partial failure
An intruder can cross only one sensor providing detection capability without being detected at areas where two or more sensors form a line of detection at the boundary. A portion of the ids fails within the interior.
Intrusion Alarms
Sensors in violation will be in upper case. Sensors that have reset will be displayed in lower case.
Door Forced
Main entry door (BMS) sensor (GAF ONLY) is in violation; usually a forced entry or exit. The door was opened without the benefit of a valid card read or free egress. Could also mean that a valid user had entered through a door equipped with a card reader, but failed to disarm using keypad within allotted time.
Trap
Indicates a PIR sensor has been activated. This sensor is used to monitor the interior of an alarm account.
Glass break
A glass break sensor (broken window) has been activated
Tamper
If an unannounced alarm, and you were not notified by Alarm maintenance of any work being conducted, a tamper alarm had been activated; dispatch patrols.
Disarm with alarm
A user at the alarm account has disarmed the account or partition while an active alarm is still in violation. Ensure the individuals identity is verified
Delay door
Indicates the BMS sensor on the primary entry door of the alarm account has been triggered. Usually be followed by an number of trap alarms indicating a penetration pattern. This alarm could also mean that a valid user has entered through the main door but failed to disarm using the keypad with the allotted time
Door propped (GAF only)
Indicates a valid entry, but the controlled door remained propped open after entry. Make contact with assessing personnel check his or her name status and inform he or she that the door needs to be closed or else this alarm will continue to annunciate. This signal does not require a patrol to be dispatched, as this is not an indication of a BMS sensor violation. This signal will not be reported if the account is in an armed state
Emergency Duress
Indicates a user entered the ambush/ duress sequence on a keypad
Emergency police
Indicates a user hit a duress switch or button or entered ambush/ duress sequence on a keypad
AAM DOWN
The expansion panel has lost communications capability with the accounts main panel ie cut or loose wire. The access module cannot report again until the situation is corrected. Valid card swipes are permitted since the access module verified the information locally at the alarm account.
AAM (S5ISE) On-Line UP
The access modules communication with the accounts main panel has been restored
Aborted code out
Indicates that an account or an account partition arming attempt was made, but was unsuccessful. This is usually caused when the monitoring station at BDOC is in the process of rebooting computers. The account will not arm until the communication between the account and the monitoring station is reestablished.
Aborted code In
Indicates that an alarm accounts main panel went through an abort sequence during a system or partition disarming attempt. If the control panel can verify the code, the account will disarm even though it cannot establish communication with the monitoring station. This usually occurs when the monitoring station is being rebooted and may take up a few minutes to occur.
Aborted message
The control panel made eight dialing attempts and was unable to report an alarm or status message. when the account main panel does not contact the monitoring station, it reports as an aborted message, Identifies the alarm or message that resulted in the abort and reports any current violations. Account panel can store up to 16 aborted alarms and messages. Signal is normally received after an account has reported a communication failure, line interrupt and indicates communication has been restored
AC Power Down
Will signal be fore an AC power loss. Each account panel is equipped with emergency battery power which engages automatically. This backup feature is to ensure there is no loss of ids coverage. Batteries are rated out for a maximum of 4 hours. If AC power is not restored at the expiration of the 4 hour limit owner/ user personnel must respond and take security for their facility
AC Power Up
Reported immediately after AC power is restored
Battery Problem
Indicates that AC power is present, but the backup battery is inoperative. Immediately open an AFTO 781A Work Order. Facility will not arm until the problem is fixed
Board failure
A warning to the alarm monitor of a possible failure of the alarm or portion of the alarm account. The board failure signal will be followed by the signal of what component or portion of the account is experiencing failure. Of no additional reports, enable the account, wait for the panel up signal and clear the screen.
Down panel
Indicates that an account panel is powering down itself. Because it lost AC and backup power. The panel cannot report again until AC power restored. Immediately contact the ESS NCO and open AFTO 781A
Drop line (communication)
Indicates the alarm has transmitted a message and hung up
