Types of Agni Flashcards
Agni is the bridge between
lower and higher consciousness
Bhuta agni
Liver agnis (five elements) Converts the 5 elements from food/water into biologically available forms of these elements
Jathara agni
Central fire in stomach and small intestines
Governs initial digestion
Gate/doorway to the digestive system
Kloma agni
pancreas, choroid plexuses
governs digestion of sweet taste and water regulation
Nabhasa agni
(ether) maintains shape of the cells
Vayavya agni
(air) regulates cellular respiration
Tejo agni
(fire) regulates cellular metabolic activity
Apo agni
(water) maintains cytoplasm
Parthiva agni
(earth) mineral regulation
Jatru agni
Thymus Gland (lower) + Thyroid Gland (upper)
- Bridge between Bhuta Agni and Dhatu Agnis
- Thymus Gland = Maintains immunity by producing Ojas
- Thyroid Gland = Maintains cellular metabolic activity
Dhatu agnis (1st four)
Rasa, rakta, mamsa, medha
Dhatu agnis (last four)
asti, majja, Shukra/Arthava
Pilu agni
Digestive fire in a cell membrane (micro-digestion)
- Maintains semi-permeability of the cell membrane
- Allows for the passing through of food, water and air that exist outside the cell membrane
- Nourishes the cell
Pithara agni
Inside the cell
- Nucleus membrane
- Nourishes DNA/RNA, genes… Maintains genetic code
- Nourishes mind and consciousness at cellular level
Indriya agni
related to the five senses Each agni digests, absorbs, assimilates and transforms sensory perception into knowledge Shaba (Hearing) Sparsha (Touch) Rupa (Vision) Rasa (Taste) Ganda (Smell)
