Type of studies Flashcards
Case reports
Not a comparison study
Look at article that describe an individual case (maybe with a few people) like a story…
if many case reports happen you want to later do a case-control study, which will look at the relationship btw relvant variables
not considered evidence based
Case- Control study
Comparison study between group of people who have something (case) and not (controls) ..
observational - not interventional
Cohort-study
Comparison group , you follow a study with 1 or more samples followed prospectively and to find an initial experimental factor with a disease. It’s cheaper than RCT but its not randomized
RCT
Randomized clinical/controlled trial
Randomy assigns participants into an exp group and a control group.. outcome depend vairable is whats measured.
Should be one population study.
Systematic review
document writen to provide review of all relevant studies on particular topic
in it you can use all forms of studies. published and unpublished studies with cohorts and rct…
Meta analaysis
Bunch of systematic reviews to combine to form 1 conclusion out of the evidence.. highest stat power.
Most best study to use for many meta is many RCT
