Type Of Shots Flashcards
What is an establishing shot
This is where the human figure is barely visible. This is the framing for landscapes, birds-eye views of cittes and gives a sense of place and space. It is often used to set the scene for the viewer.
What is a long shot
Figures are more prominent, but the background still dominates. You will see the entire body of a person, as well as the background.
What is a medium shot
This frames the human body from the waist up, which allows gestures and expressions to become more visible.
What is a close-up shot
The close-up is traditionally shot to emphasise facial expressions, the details of a gesture or a significant object.
Extreme close-up shot
This singles out a portion of the face (eyes or lips), isolates a detail or magnifies the minute.
