What is type 1 diabetes?
A
Loss of insulin secretion due to destruction of beta cells in the Islets of Langerhans of the pancreas

How does insulin work?
A
Binds to receptors in the membrane of insulin responsive cells such as muscle and adipose tissue
This causes vesicles containing GLUT4, these then enter the membrane and allow glucose to enter the cell
