It is important that the tag (free) ends of both ropes of the sheet bend be on the same side of the finished knot.

Pedigree Cow Hitch
Modified cow hitch (pictured). Start by wrapping the rope around from the front, and end by passing the working end between the standing end and the loop, then pulling it snug against the object.

Knute Hitch

Palomar Knot
Step 2 is simply to tie an overhand knot with the hook hanging from the bottom. Make sure the final loop goes above the eye of the hook (with the rest of the knot).

Harness Bend
To tighten, hold the red loop, and pull the black rope through it as tight as needed. Then without lifting the tension (pull on the tag end of the red rope), make a half hitch with the black end around the red rope and pull it tight.

Water Knot (Ring Bend)
Make sure the tails exit from different sides of the knot. They should be at least three inches long so that they can be inspected for slippage.

Constrictor Hitch (Miller’s)
