Vote for women?
During WW1 women had taken most of men’s places in society, though they were not allowed to vote. The battle for right to vote was fought by the ‘Suffragettes’ whose leader was MRS Emmeline Pankhurst. They usually held violent protests thus they were jailed
Labour Party?
In 1924 the first Labour government was created but it didn’t identify neither with Socialism nor Communism.
What are the Roaring Twenties?
During the 20’s of the 20th British younger generations rejected strict Victorian values in obsessive search for fun and freedom. Women started to smoke, families became smaller, both parents worked, divorce became common.
Technological development?
Technology evolved rapidly, telephone and electricity were expanded on a large scale. Motion picture, radio and record make a new kind of mass. Thanks to Ford’s use of the assembly-line, more people could own automobiles.
Wall Street Crash?
In 1929 there was a sudden crash in the American stock market, the so-called Wall Street Crash which contributed to the so-called Great Depression. This period si referred to as the slump in Britain.
