What are the types of referral?

A

Routine
via GP for an ophthalmic condition, or where the optometrist suspects the patient may have a medical problem such as diabetes or hypertension that needs the attention of the GP

Urgent
to an ophthalmic outpatient clinic to be seen within one week

Emergency
to eye casualty, ophthalmic outpatient clinic or Accident & Emergency
