Why did America finally enter the war n 1917?

Why did America decide to not get involved in the beggining stages of the war?
They saw it as a largely European conflict.
What was the Zimmerman telegram?
America intercepted a telegram from Germany to Mexico. They discovered that Germany had signed an alliance with Mexico. They agreed that if Mexico was successful in creating conflict in they west with America and diverge their attention away from the European war, they would give Mexico Texas and New Mexico.
Ultimately, America saw it as Germany using Mexico as a means of declaring war on America.
What effect did Americas entry have on the German military?
- Increased German urgency to knock British out of the war.
Put pressure on German troops, as increased man power buffed morale of allied troops. - Reduced morale.
How did Germany respond to Americas entry?
The pressure on Germany resulted in the desperate German attempt to end the fight called the “Ludendorff offensive”.
When was the 2nd Russian revolution and what did it mean for Russia?
The Russian revolution of March 1917. The tsar is forced to abdicate. Family is refused the throne and Russia is left without a formal government.
