Turn buckles.
Joins cables together.
Adjusts the length and the tension.
Screws into fixed fittings on the cable ends (swaged end fittings).
Threads must be evenly engaged at either end.
Locked with either a locking wire or locking clips.
Tension rod type turnbuckle.
Solid rod body with a left and right hand screw thread.
Rotating the rod will either tighten or loosen it.
Will have a witness hole.
Usually wire locked.
Barrel type turnbuckle.
Hollow turnbuckle with left hand and right hand thread.
Operation is same as tension rod.
Locked with special spring clips or wire locking.
Witness holes.
Left hand threads.
They’re clearly identified by a groove.
Some notches cut into the bolt heads can mean high tensile steel so need to be aware.
