Q

explain to me how to use 밖에? :)

A

it is used as a particle after a noun, and then the sentence must have a negative verb ending (못하다, 안 하다, ). It means “nothing but this” or “only this”. It is similar to “만 “, but it has to have a negative sentence ending, and can’t be used with the imperative form.

예를 들어서:

“한국어 조금밖에 못해요.”
I can’t speak anything but a little Korean.

“왜 공부밖에 안 해요?”
Why do you do nothing but study?

“우리 고양이는 참치밖에 안 먹어요.”
Our cat won’t eat anything but tuna.
