Myth:
Tell us what’s right or wrong. Depending on interpretation some truth changes with time. Example, “thou shall not kill.”
Traditional stories focused on the acts of Gods or heroes, often in explanation of mysteries of life or ways of a particular culture.
Historical Truth:

Historical events in passages and exaggeration to support viewpoints.
A series of names, events, or words set in order.
Scientific Truth:

Scientific info from the time the Bible was written.
Poetry expressing the poets personal and inner feelings of love.
Symbolic Truth:
Prophecy:
Truth in the Bible shown through myth and symbol, and interpreting by “reading through the lines.”
A prediction under divine influence and direction, to tell of future events or warn people of the consequences of their actions.
Proverbial Truth:
Law:
Folksy, down-to-earth sayings, teach us to respond and view life a certain way.
Rules telling us how to behave.
Religious Truth:
Letter:
Truth that describes our relationship with God, and one another (ex. the Church). Faith and scripture are at the heart of this.
A written message, sometimes of a personal nature.
Parable:
A story which serves to teach lessons or provide insights into human nature.
Sermon:
A speech of a serious or solemn kind, often based on a passage from the Bible.
Drama:
A story about peoples lives, individual dialogue and interaction.
