Q

world issues. How do political factors cause underdevelopment in Africa

A

-conflict
Since colo has stopped there has been non-stop conflict, this has cause many countries to be effected by civil war. Another name for the African continent is the “ Kalashnikov continental”.
This causes underdevelopment because it destroys essential economic infrastructure which stops people from moving around freely. It cause people to leave homes and workplaces for safety. Schools, hospitals and farmlands are also forced to close, this causes low levels of education, poor health and an increase in malnourishment. For example the war in Sudan has cause 6M people to struggle with homes and almost 3M to loose their home. Survival is more important than developing the country.

-domestic terrorism
Terrorist groups who decay the actions of the government and will use a range of violent tactics, this is so they get what they want. They form these groups to perceive huma rights violations by the government. They believe that violence is the only way to make a change.
This causes underdevelopment because it restricts development. This restricts opportunities to economic growth.
For example, Boko Haram has attacked the villages in the Sahel ragions. It has cause displacement in many communities, leading to a decline in agriculture and displacement of people who contribute to economic activities
