Trignometry Flashcards
How to convert radians into degrees?
180 degrees/pi *radians
Degrees into radians?
degrees *pi/180 degrees
Law of Sines Formula for angles
sinA/a = sinB/b = sinC/c
Law of Sines for sides
a/sinA = b/sinB = c/sinC
Law of Cosines
a^2 = b^2 + c^2 -2bc * cosA
First Area Formula (based on Trig)
Area = 1/2ab * sinC
Second Area Formula
A = sqrt(s(s-a)(s-b)(s-c))
How do the coordinates correlate to sine and cosine?
x = cosine, y = sine
Graphing sine functions?
y = asin(b(x-h)) +k
Graphing cosine functions?
y = acos(b(x-h)) +k
What does SACT refer to?
It’s an acronym for where each trig function is positive for each quadrant. Quad II is sine, Quad I is all, Quad IV is cosine, and Quad III is tangent.
Why can’t Pythagorean theorem work on all triangles?
Not all of them are right triangles, which means that the numbers would not be accurate. That’s why Law of Sines and Law of Cosines are there.
How is the unit circle helpful in proportions?
It’s a circle with a radius of 1, a set unit. A 30-60 right triangle has sqrt(3)/2-1/2-1 in ratio, while the 45 right triangle has a sqrt(2)/2 twice over to 1.
Unit circle regarding radians and degrees?
The unit circle goes by sixth, fourth, third, than half of pi respectively in radians. Equivocally, there would be an increase by either 30 or 15 degrees.
What does a negative angle mean?
It means that the rotation around a circle is going clockwise, where a positive angle would be going counterclockwise.
