Q

CS

A
  • progressive head asymmetry secondary to atrophy of the temporal and master muscle unilaterally
  • if invades through foraminae with compression of the brainstem will show progressive brainstem signs (i.e. unilateral proprioceptive deficits)
  • it is not uncommon for O to report sudden onset asymmetry in fluffy dogs as they hadn’t noticed it previously
  • usually slow growing and if not compressing brainstem then effectively an incidental finding
  • many dogs will outlive their trigeminal tumours

Diagnosis

A
  • confirmed on advanced imaging +/- CSF
  • without advanced imaging: need to do detailed CN exam to confirm only 1 trigeminal is affected, sensory deficits from the trigeminal will also be present
