Trials & guidelines Flashcards
TRICC Study
Transfusion Requirements in Critical Care - Multi Centre RCT
Liberal vs restrictive blood transfusion (100g/l vs 70g/l
Fewer transfusions in restrictive group (obviously)
Trend towards decreased mortality in the restrictive group
Performed before leukodepletion of blood products so mortality in liberal group might be lower if done today.
TRISS
Transfusion requirement in Septic Shock - NEJM 2014
90g/l vs 70g/l in 2 arms
No significant difference in survival to 90 days
ARISE
Australasian Resuscitation In Sepsis Evaluation
EGDT didn’t provide a reduction in mortality and trended towards an increase In organ support.
PROPPR
Plasma:platelets:packed red cells ratio compared.
No mortality difference, but 1:1:1 achieved haemostasis and fewer died due to exsanguination in 24hrs.
SHOT
Serious Hazards of Transfusion - 2013
1571 patients:
Acute transfusion reaction (ATR) - 320
Transfusion associated circulatory overload (TACO)- 96
Haemolytic transfusion reaction (HTR) - 49
Transfusion associated Acute Lung injury (TRALI) - 10
Transfusion Transmitted Infections (TTI) - <1
