Management: Give Comfort Measures

-Unresponsive with Unstable Vital signs
-Penetrating head wound
-Spinal cord injury above C4:
Damage phrenic nerve - controls
innervation of diaphragm
-Fixed dilated pupils
-2nd or3rd degree burn > 60% TBSA
Black
-Life-threatening injury
-↑ chance of survival with minimal intervention
-aka Emergent or Immediate
-Unresponsive with stable Vital signs
-ABC’s Problem
-2nd or 3rd degree burn: 15-40 % TBSA
-Fracture: Long Bone
Fat embolism: Airway problem
Pulmonary Embolism: Breathing px
-Incomplete amputation
-Spinal Cord injury below C4
Red
STABLE
-HEAD
-EARS
-EYES
-ABDOMINAL
INJURIES
-Fracture requiring open reduction
yellow
-Significant injuries but can wait for hours without threat to limb or life
-AKA Urgent/Delayed
-Can wait within 2 hours
-STABLE: Head, Ears, Eyes, Abdominal Injuries
-Fracture requiring open reduction
YELLOW
-Minor/minimal injury
-walking wounded
-behavioral & psychological problem
-can wait for 24 hours
MINOR
-Cuts
-Laceration
-Bruises
-Sprain
-Strain
-Fracture at upper extremity
