Q

What did France loose/not gain in the Treaty?

A
  • France did not recieve Strasbourg, the Bishopric of Strasbourg, or Mulhouse.
  • The nobility of Alsace and the ten towns retained thier privileges vis-d-vis the Empire provided that these privileges did not diminish French sovereignty. The latin words for ‘provided that’ (Ita tamen) were to cause many arguments in the future. Was Alsace French or not?
