Q

How did the Big 3 reacted to the treaty

A

George Clemenceau= -He was happy with some aspect where Germany is weakened but was upset as it didn’t go as far as he would like.
- Happy to get Alsace Loraine back as well as getting coal from the Saar for 15 years
- Happy that Germany’s economic and military was severely limited

David Loyd George= Out of The big 3, he gained the most of his wants
- His main goal was to do what’s best for his empire and people (extended empire by 1.8 million square miles)
- Felt that the treaty was harsh enough to punish Germany but not enough to completely destroy a trading partner

Woodrow Wilson= Only 2 out of his 14 points was finalised in the Treaty. –> creation of new countries & the League of Nations
- He disappointed the Americans as he falsely promise world peace and all of his great ideas ( idealist)
- Upset that Britain, France & Japan were the ones gaining Germany’s colonies instead of taken over by the LONs
- idea of freedom of the seas was abandoned
