Treatments Flashcards
Sinus Tach Treatment
Treat Cause
BB blockers
(result of vagal inhibition)
-Adenosine?
Sinus Brady Treatment
If symptomatic:
- IV Atropine 1 mg Q 3-5 mins
- Transcutaneous pacing
What causes Bradycardia?
\++Excessive vagal (parasympathomimetic) stimulation: -Carotid sinus massage -Vomiting/gagging -Valsalva maneuvers -Eyeball pressure -Administration of parasympathomimetic drugs
Digitoxin toxicity
Hyperkalemia (slow depolarization)
MI
Sinus Tach Causes
Physical activity Anxiety Pain Stress Anemia Hypovolemia Hypotension MI HF
Afib Cause
Underlying HD
Electrolytes
Hypoxia
Cardiac Surgery
A-fib/A-flutter Treatment
BB or CCB (diltiazem, verapamil)
doFETilide amiodarone
Warfarin
If stable but symptomatic: IV bolus + drip
If unstable/hemocompromised
- Synchronized cardioversion
- Heparin drip will be included
Catheter ablation or Maze
PSVT
Is an Atrial thing because the QRS is still narrow.
-starts with a PAC (generally presents a multiple PACs in a row)
PSVT Treatment
Vagal maneuvers
-Valsalva (most effective)
Hold breath 10-15 seconds (NVD) then resume breathing
Coughing
Carotid sinus massage
ADENOSINE IV PUSH
-followed by rapid NS flush
If nothing works: Cardioversion
PVC treatment
Amiodarone, Lidocaine, BB (treat the cause)
PVC causes
Hypoxia Stimulants Electrolytes Fever Exercise Emotional stress CVD
V-Tach Treatment
Pulse or no pulse?
ACLS!!!
-Maybe just anti-dysrhythmic meds (BB, CCB, Amiodarone)
-If pulseless Defibrillate
200-400J
What does Atropine do?
Increase HR
What does Adenosine do?
Dec HR
-PSVT
