DON’T SMOKE. STOP SMOKING
Smoking cessation therapy should be recommended before home oxygen prescription.
ONLY BE PROVIDED TO PATIENTS WHO HAVE STOPPED.

Criteria for LTOT (>15hrs) ?
N.B - Patient CANNOT smoke
A
2 ABG Measurements taken on 2 occasions at least 3 weeks apart to demonstrate clinical stability.
- COPD with PaO2 7.3–8 kPa or lower when stable
- Severe chronic asthma with PaO2 <7.3 kPa
- Heart failure with daytime PaO2<7.3 kPa (Breathing/Nocturnal)
- Cystic fibrosis when PaO2 <7.3–8 kPa or lower
- interstitial lung disease with PaO2 <8 kPa
- pulmonary hypertension, without parenchymal lung involvement when PaO2<8 kPa;
- COPD/CF +SECONDARY polycythaemia w/<7.3–8 kPa or lower
- Obstructive sleep apnoea despite continuous positive airways pressure therapy
- neuromuscular or skeletal disorders
